Most Fashionable TV show--Gossip Girl
Forget Lucy Liu and the Cashmere Mafia, our new guilty pleasure, and possible Sex and the City replacement – can it be true!? – is anew, teen drama series from the creator of The O.C., Josh Schwartz. Based on the novels of Cecily von Ziegesar, Gossip Girl revolves around a group of rich teens growing up on New York’s Upper East Side. Set in an exclusive private school, there’s the expected sex, drugs and socialite parties, but it’s the rivalry between the two main female characters – and best frenemies – Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf (played by Blake Lively, and Leighton Meester) that takes center stage.
What keeps it fresh is the added touch of Harriet the Spy: the seemingly, all-seeing, anonymous narrator, Gossip Girl, who – with a contemporary twist on Carrie Bradshaw’s column – writes an internet blog about her (or his? - the identity is never revealed) fellow classmates, stirring up the hornets nest of this exclusive group with salacious gossip. Gossip Girl’s first season is currently having a good run. the refined, collegiate style of the deliciously catty Gossip Girl teens is sure to make an impact.
Preppy style meets sophisticated Coture
LACOSTE
Their autumn/winter collection made preppy northeastern fashionistas hearts swoon when lacoste debuted their collection. stripes, jackets and skinny jeans were the centerpiece in their collections, with blue blue and red accents. Blue was the color of the show along with nude, black and ivory. the designer put a retro twist on some old styles. GREAT COLLECTION

suddenly purple seems like the only colour to be seen in. From the rich ecclesiastical purple seen at Valentino and Pucci, through to light, feminine lilac (Comme des Garcons), there’s a shade to suit every style and mood. Try a purple prom dress from Oasis with black tights and shoe boots for a punky party look, or a paler purple blouse tucked into a grey pencil skirt for sophisticated daywear that captures this season’s ‘40s-style, waisted silhouette too.

We’ve always been told that wearing head-to-toe colour is too ‘matchy-matchy’ and sneered at celebs like Posh who carefully coordinated their handbags, dress and shoes. But fashion rules are made to be broken and when Victoria Beckham stepped onto the pitch at David’s LA Galaxy unveiling wearing Roland Mouret’s fuchsia Moon dress with a matching hot pink Birkin bag, she triumphantly proved her style nous and got a head start on her fellow fashionistas. If you’re not quite ready for the full-on effect, try two matching pieces at a time and vary the shades of your chosen colour to avoid looking like a sold block. And for extra fashion points, make purple your head-to-toe shade du jour…

Every season designers come up with new ways to redefine the fashionista’s favourite shade – black. black has been confidently used in excess, from head to toe, in a variety of different fabrics and textures. Marc Jacobs sent several variations on the classic tux down the catwalk, while Oscar de la Renta mixed sequins and tulle to create frivolous cocktail dresses with a dark edge. Give your outfit life and depth by layering opulent materials like satin, velvet and leather for a look that’s more vampy Italian widow and less ‘80s teenage goth…

For too long leather has been confined to jackets and the odd pair of dodgy trousers worn by an ageing rocker, but visionary designers like Christopher Kane have transformed the material into something quite revolutionary. Kane sent rippled and pleated leather dresses down the catwalk at his show, which had an opulent, medival feel. H&M have designed their own leather dress,
while Kate Moss’ latest TopShop collection includes a divine leather jacket (throw over a party dress for pure rock ‘n’ roll style), and Cos are doing a particularly sexy leather skirt – work it like an ‘80s diva

GET THE MOST FOR THE LEAST
02-Jan-08
Must-read tips on how to get the most for the least!
Make a list: Dedicated sale shoppers know the key to getting the most from the sales is organisation. Make one general list of items that you actually need, for example: a pencil skirt and some party shoes. If you start to feel distracted in the midst of the chaos, look at the list and refocus. Then compile a second list of specific items that you would like; so if a blue camisole from Diesel caught your eye but you couldn't justify the price tag previously, note it down and look out for it.
Be an early bird: You've had the whole of the Christmas holidays to stay in bed, so set your alarm on the first day of the sale. If you get there early, you'll not only have a better chance of getting what you want, but there will also be more sizes to choose from, so you won't find yourself squeezing into a size 4 or being engulfed by a size 20.
Buy, don't try: It's often difficult to make an informed decision about how something looks when you're irritable from waiting half an hour for a fitting room and have so many clothes that the changing room resembles a jumble sale. Most chain stores will accept clothing returns if they are the wrong size (always check at the till), making the process of trying on almost irrelevant. If you are unsure of the size, forget trying on and instead buy the same item in two sizes. At home you can try them on in a calmer atmosphere and see how they look with the rest of your wardrobe. If you decide to return something, make sure it stays in a saleable condition and keep the receipt!
Three important questions: Sales are great for finding bargains but they are also potential traps for things we will never wear or need. We've all done it: that red PVC dress that you were too embarrassed to even wear for fancy dress or those purple and yellow dungarees that you thought looked 'hippy chic'. To reduce the chance of those terrible sale disasters ask yourself three important questions before you purchase: What in my wardrobe can I wear this with? Have I got anything like this already? What is the most I would pay for it?
Look out for replenishment: Don't be disheartened if the cashmere jumper you've been dreaming of gets snapped up. Most sale merchandise is replenished after the first few days of the sale by warehouse deliveries so don't be shy about asking the shop assistants when there is going to be more stock. Stock is also topped up with Christmas and sale returns, so if it's not there one day, it just might be the next.
Buy basics: Sales are great for buying wardrobe basics: a black coat, sensible shoes, a warm jumper and work suits. These don't change much from year to year and always tend to make appearances in the sales as retailers want to make space for the season's more disposable must-have fashions.
Dress sensibly: It might seem like the most obvious advice but it can make all the difference. Flat shoes are an essential – you're not going to be able to carry all those shopping bags if you're tottering around in stilettos. Take a bottle of water, it'll keep you hydrated and cool you down. Even if it's freezing outside, don't pile on the woollies, with all the crowds, you'll be overheating once inside.
