Most Fashionable TV show--Gossip Girl
Forget Lucy Liu and the Cashmere Mafia, our new guilty pleasure, and possible Sex and the City replacement – can it be true!? – is anew, teen drama series from the creator of The O.C., Josh Schwartz. Based on the novels of Cecily von Ziegesar, Gossip Girl revolves around a group of rich teens growing up on New York’s Upper East Side. Set in an exclusive private school, there’s the expected sex, drugs and socialite parties, but it’s the rivalry between the two main female characters – and best frenemies – Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf (played by Blake Lively, and Leighton Meester) that takes center stage.
What keeps it fresh is the added touch of Harriet the Spy: the seemingly, all-seeing, anonymous narrator, Gossip Girl, who – with a contemporary twist on Carrie Bradshaw’s column – writes an internet blog about her (or his? - the identity is never revealed) fellow classmates, stirring up the hornets nest of this exclusive group with salacious gossip. Gossip Girl’s first season is currently having a good run. the refined, collegiate style of the deliciously catty Gossip Girl teens is sure to make an impact.
